Dr. Kevin A. Adkins, PhD
Dr. Kevin Adkins is the director of UNVAIL and an associate professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He holds bachelor, master, and doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering, along with advanced coursework in physics and atmospheric science. Dr. Adkins teaches aerodynamics, aircraft performance, and special topics in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), including Unmanned Aircraft Systems for Atmospheric Investigation, within the College of Aviation. Professor Adkins’ research interests include UAS and their applications, using UAS and numerical methods to analyze changes to near-surface (ABL/UBL) meteorology, micrometeorology, advanced air mobility (AAM) [UAM], and UAS flight test. Prior to coming to Embry-Riddle, Kevin served as an officer and pilot in the USAF and spent over a decade in engineering industry, working as both an aircraft system design and lead flight test engineer. Dr. Adkins holds numerous professional memberships, such as with the American Meteorological Society and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and is an elected Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.
Avinash Muthu Krishnan
Avinash received his B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Avi is presently a masters student in Mechanical Engineering.
Anthony received his B.S. in Engineering Physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. While an undergraduate student, he was an active member of ERAU's Honors Program, an educational program for the top 7% of academic performers at the University. Mr. Oreo is presently a masters student in Engineering Physics.
Christopher (CJ) Swinford
Christopher received his B.S. in Engineering Physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and plans to return to graduate school in the fall of 2021. Presently, CJ works as a civilian physicist for the United States Air Force while still remaining connected to the lab.
Robert received his undergraduate degree in Unmanned Aircraft Systems from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Since being an early undergraduate student, Mr. Moore has been involved with several unmanned aircraft (UA) development projects. He is presently a Graduate Research Assistant and masters student. Robert's extensive experience in UA development has been utilized to develop unique UA specifically tailored for the lab's missions.
Max is pursuing his B.S. in Engineering Physics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Accepted into the Department's accelerated master's program, he has plans to complete his M.S. in Engineering Physics subsequent to gradation.
Growing up in Florida with immigrant parents, Carissa has always had an extreme appreciation for the natural beauty of the world around her. This led to her beginning her pursuit of physics. Ms. Rowan is majoring in Engineering Physics with a concentration in instrumentation and possesses a passion for sustainable energy sources and conservation efforts (we must maintain this natural beauty, of course!). Carissa finds purpose in her work through the lab as she applies her knowledge of instrumentation to researching our impact on the atmosphere.
As a Florida native, Blake found a passion for agriculture at an early age. Currently enrolled as a bachelor’s student in Unmanned Aircraft Systems with minors in Meteorology and GIS, Blake hopes to combine his knowledge in these fields to pursue a career in Precision Agriculture.
